What We Support
There are so many problems in the world; we believe that we should each simply do what we can. Our relational philosophy bears out in three main areas: environment, social action and health.
Environment. Tiger conservation in Tamil Nadu, India. In the rolling grasslands and the dense jungles of the lower plains, near the tea gardens of the Nilgiri Mountains, elephants, tigers and other unique animals still roam. The Bengal tiger is increasingly under threat from human activity. We are supporting tiger conservation through an ongoing donation program to India Project for Animals and Nature (IPAN)http://www.indiapan.org/, a non-governmental organization which works to reduce and prevent cruelty towards animals, to promote the health of domestic and wild animals, to protect the environment and by so doing improve the livelihood of people depending on their well-being and balance. At Strand Tea Company we reuse and recycle at a rate of 95%, and operate with green energy.
Social action. Our major beneficiary for social giving is The League of Women Voters of Clackamas County, Oregon. We are a corporate affiliate. In addition, we support numerous programs in our local community.
Health. We support alternative health education and practice. We donate to, and supply tea at low cost to the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, located in Portland, Oregon. We also work with, and supply tea to people struggling with Lyme’s disease. http://oregonlyme.org
